Game in Mathematics class part 2

Here we go, i will share my experience again about how i teach Math during class with games. it is my second game. Usually i used it in the middle of period till end of class. We called this as " The Police and Criminal". I got this game from my friend, Philippino teacher. This game was very interesting, especially for secondary students.

How to play it?

Game ini mengharuskan semua murid untuk duduk di lantai. Bisa dimainkan oleh murid yang berjumlah > 8 murid. Dalam permainan ini, semua murid diminta untuk menutup matanya (pastikan tidak ada yang mengintip), kemudian guru akan berkeliling dari belakang dan memilih dua orang murid, masing - masing satu orang sebagai polisi dan satu orang sebagai kriminal. Cara memilihnya adalah dengan memberi syarat ketukan satu kali untuk polisi dan dua kali untuk si kriminal.

Bagaimana cara jelasinnya ke murid ?

Contoh yang saya ucapkan ketika saya memperkenalkan game ini di kelas.

Me :

• ok guys, do you want play game now?
• I have a new game that will make all of you happy. We will play "the police and criminal"
• How to play it? Ok, before you have the explanation, can we have free space here? please move all the tables and chairs to the wall. 
• Ok,please sit down on the floor and make a good circle. ( i am standing and walking in their behind)
• The police and criminal is simple game. I will asking all of you to close your eyes, not allow to see around you. Then, i will walking behind you and i will choose two students.
• If i touch you once, it is mean you are as a police. If i touch you twice, its mean you are the criminal.
• If you are the criminal, you must " kill" 5 citizen by give them sign with your eyes. ( kedipan mata) in 10 minutes.
• If you are the police, you must find out who are the criminal among the citizen here.
• The rest, who are not get touch will be the citizen.
• The citizen if get eye contact ( dapat kedipan mata) must be death by saying " Ok, I am dying" but not allow to tell how give her/him eye contact. after said that, he/she must move out from the circle.
• Ok, guys. you will understand if we try first our game.

Setelah selesai memilih polisi dan kriminal, minta mereka untuk membuka matanya. Beri arahan juga bahwa dilarang bersuara. Jika mereka sudah mengerti, berikan konsekuensi kepada si polisi atau si kriminal jika mereka tidak bisa menyelesaikan tugas mereka dalam waktu yang sudah di sepakati. Hubungkan dengan materi yang baru saja mereka pelajari.
